Dog Breeder Drowns Puppies, Gets One Month Jail Time

A Minnesota dog breeder who was accused of drowning puppies has been sentenced to just one month behind bars, reported Saturday’s Associated Press.

Dayna Bell, 62, who ran Bell Kennels and Farm in Northfield, was charged with 13 counts of animal cruelty for allegedly killing multiple puppies in inhumane manners, including drowning them in a bucket of water, and tethering them to a cinder block and throwing them into a swimming pool.

Bell was found guilty by a jury in November.

In addition to jail time, Bell has been ordered to perform community service and she must serve 45 days of electronic monitoring at her home.

Bell has forfeited her commercial license and is now prohibited from owning or working around animals.
